Post 6: Teacher Pre-Survey

As an educator I wanted to raise awareness about childhood OCD, which is the reason for this project. Recently I created a pre-survey about childhood OCD and passed it out to my teachers. I wanted to see what they knew about OCD so I could put together a packet for teachers that explained what OCD is, what the signs of OCD are, and provide some tips for dealing with children with OCD in the classroom.

The teachers knew that the survey was for my Masters class, but they did not know what it was being used for.

Pre-Survey Questions and Results (results in red):
( I did make a graph on word but it would not let me paste it on this page).

What does OCD stand for?
A)    Obsessive Compulsive Disorder  (2)
B)     Over certified District  (6)
C)    Optical coronary Disorder  (0)
D)    I don’t know (1)

Do you know the signs of OCD?

A)    Yes (4)
B)     No (5)

Have you ever dealt first hand with OCD?
A)    Yes (1)
B)     No (8)

Can OCD be fixed?
A)    Yes (1)
B)     No  (1)
C)    Maybe (7)

Do you think you could deal with OCD if need be?
A)    Yes (1)
B)     No (1)
C)    Maybe (7)

Do you think you could provide information to parents about OCD?
A)    Yes (1)
B)     No (0)
C)    Maybe (8)

Pre-Survey Teacher Results Based off These Totals

7 teachers

2 support staff

Clearly based off the data, my teachers have no idea what OCD is, but I cant say this is a surprise for me. The teachers are first year teachers and are very young.

  1. I think it's interesting that not many people on your staff know information on OCD. I was wondering, what are you planning on doing with this data?

  2. Clear results pre-intervention! You can email me your table - and email it to Andrew also to see if he can figure out why it did not post.

  3. Heather based on the info I am putting together an informational packet with a clear definition of OCD, what to look for, tips on how to deal with OCD, and advice.

Shannan-I emailed it to you, it would be great to be able to post the graph even though it is a simple graph it stills SHOWS the data better then just typing it out. Thanks!
